The U.S. Air Force recently adopted a "Memorial Flag." See www.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123043074.

It was raised at the Air Force Memorial, near the Pentagon, on 2 March 07, and is now flying there under the USAF flag.

The Air Force Memorial itself is a striking piece of symbolism. It consists of three tall tapered pillars that resemble the vapor trails of jets performing a "bomb burst" maneuver. The flag itself is nothing special -- a busy, wordy seal-on-a-bed-sheet.
